Scott Margereson Wins EPT Barcelona Second Chance

Scott Margereson won the €2,700 EPT Barcelona Second Chance at the 2026 PokerStars European Poker Tour Barcelona festival, taking €361,060 after defeating Natasha Mercier of the United States heads-up.

The tournament drew 844 entries and generated a €2,046,700 prize pool, with 127 players reaching the money. For Margereson, the result added another major festival title and pushed his live tournament earnings beyond $5 million.

Margereson Closes Out an 844-Entry Field

Margereson’s first-place prize was the largest payout from the Second Chance event, while Mercier earned €225,580 for her runner-up finish. The final table brought together an international group of players from the United States, France, Canada, Romania, Italy, Poland, Russia, and Sweden, with Mercier posting the highest finish among the other finalists.

Cherish Andrews finished third for €161,140, followed by Julien Thome in fourth for €123,940. Sanjaya Wadhwani placed fifth for €95,360, and Cristinel Dumitru took sixth for €73,360.

Fabio Peluso finished seventh for €56,400, Maciej Komorowski placed eighth for €43,400, and Maksim Panyak rounded out the official final table in ninth for €33,380.

A Career Result With Clear Historical Weight

The €361,060 score ranks as the third-largest live tournament cash of Margereson’s career. His two larger listed results remain the $696,740 he won in the 2018 $3,500 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown and the €423,700 he collected for winning the 2025 PokerStars Open Malta.

While the Barcelona victory did not surpass those two marks, it carried additional significance by moving Margereson beyond $5 million in live tournament earnings. That gives the Second Chance win a defined place in his career record: another title, a six-figure payout, and a milestone total crossed at a major European festival.

Barcelona Festival Action Continues

Margereson’s win came as the €5,300 EPT Barcelona Main Event was still in progress. On August 26, 2026, 67 players remained from a starting field of 1,823, with a top prize of €1,370,050 still in play.

Brazil’s Fabricio Nociolini held the lead at the restart with 2,510,000 chips, keeping the Main Event at the center of the festival’s remaining title race after the Second Chance had reached its conclusion.

Other events on the schedule also produced winners. Max Herulf won the €3,200 8-Game event for €51,730, with Benny Glaser earning €33,480 for second. Manuel Stojanovic won the €15,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Unlimited Re-Entry event for €320,474 after defeating Konstantinos Bouloutsos heads-up.

The Second Chance title adds to a results record that already includes major victories in Florida in 2018 and Malta in 2025. In practical terms, Margereson leaves the event with the title, the €361,060 first prize, and the largest payout awarded at its 2026 final table.
